Volunteering for Home-Start Richmondshire

Volunteers are the life blood of Home-Start Richmondshire. There are several ways that you can help us:

  • by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer
  • by joining the Management Committee as a Trustee
  • by helping us with fundraising as a community fundraiser

Home-visiting volunteers

Our home visiting volunteers are the backbone of Home-Start Richmondshire. They give their time, care and commitment bringing warmth, friendship, humour, empathy and a realistic view of life. It is this that makes a real difference to the lives of the families that Home-Start supports.

Home-Start Richmondshire is governed by a Board of Trustees, all of whom are volunteers. They use their professional skills and experience to guide us and contribute to our leadership and direction so we can manage the day-to-day operations and home-visiting volunteers can get on with the job of supporting families.

Trustees generally have particular experience in either business management, finance, law, IT, human resources, marketing or family support. What is essential is a desire and commitment to see our charity run efficiently and effectively.

All Trustees undertake an induction programme covering the work of both Home-Start Richmondshire and Home-Start UK.

We are very keen to recruit new Trustees. If you are interested in becoming a Trustee please contact us to arrange an informal meeting to discuss the role.

Home-Start Richmondshire depends heavily on donations from companies, charitable trusts, organisations and individuals. We are always keen to hear from people who may be able to help us with our fundraising efforts. Please get in touch if you can help.
